Presented by the Centre des arts de Stanstead, Infinithéâtre is thrilled to bring Louis Riel : A Comic-Strip Stage Play to Stanstead, QC at Haskell Opera House on October 3, 2024. Based on Chester Brown’s critically acclaimed and award-winning graphic novel, Louis Riel : A Comic-Strip Stage Play is adapted for the stage by Zach Fraser with dynamic and playful two-dimensional puppetry. This gripping historical drama follows Riel, known as "The Father of Manitoba" from the famous Red River Resistance through to the Battle of Batoche and his subsequent trial. Charged with controversy and unflinching in its depiction of our historical forefathers, Louis Riel steams through early Canadian history, revealing a rugged and treacherous landscape both in life and politics. Louis Riel: A Comic-Strip Stage Play is part adventure story, part history lesson, and a completely fascinating theatrical event. “A dazzling pageant of two-dimensional puppetry.” - Montreal Gazette “...Louis Riel: A Comic-Strip Stage Play is a haunting yet funny look at a man whose life continues to defy lazy hagiography, popping out of our country’s history with colour and passion in the 130 years since he walked to the gallows.” - Sarah Deshaies, Cult Montreal Following a year of tours throughout Québec, Louis Riel: A Comic-Strip Stage Play will come to Stanstead for the first time on October 3rd, 2024, with performances at 2:00pm (school matinée) & 7:30pm (public performance).
